book recommendation

This is a collection of short stories. I'm currently reading The Schepherd by Ashfaq Ahmad, one of my dad's favorite authors. The story is a bit long-winded and some of the nuance feels lost in translation to me, but I will let you know what I think when I am done. It's taking me quite some time, because I read only a few pages every night before sleeping. This book also features stories by the authors you mentioned loving: Of Fists and Rubs by Ismat Chughtai and Toba Tek Singh by Saadat Hasan Manto. I plan to read these next, since you spoke highly of the authors.
